Classic Elf on the Shelf Ideas

Lily Cute, our family’s Elf on the Shelf, arrived December 1st, and is she adorable! My daughter Maisie counted the days until Lily Cute’s arrival and it’s been nothing but fun ever since. Being that this is our first year to welcome an elf there wasn’t a grand entrance and as for the 2020 quarantine trend, she quarantined in the original box. However, a mask, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer might show up later in the month.

Day 1: Elf on the Shelf says Happy December 1st!

Maisie woke up excited to meet Lily Cute. She ran around the house in search of her magical friend and found her nestled in our mini white Christmas tree holding candy canes and a red star balloon. She left a “Happy December 1st” message on a small chalkboard.

Magic Supplies: Elf on the Shelf, a red star or Christmas themed balloon, candy canes, and a Christmas tree

Day 2: Elf loves Roasting Marshmallows

Maisie woke up extremely early on day two. She ran downstairs to find “a fire”. The fire was a battery-operated candle that Lily Cute was roasting a crispy brown marshmallow over. As you can see Maisie helped herself to a giant marshmallow from the “snow fort”. I love the glow of the light and so does Maisie. It brought the room a warm and mysterious ambiance.

Magic Supplies: Marshmallows, a faux candle, toothpick, and a match to roast the marshmallow.

Day 3: Elf, you’re a Star! Rice Krispy Treats

Lily Cute decided it was time to bring a tasty treat and called on her fellow elf friends Snap!, Crackle!, and Pop! to make homemade red, white, and green Rice Krispies Treats – star-shaped of course. This party was held under the silver tree on our dining room table.

Magic Supplies: Rice Krispies, butter, marshmallows, a thick star cookie cutter and love.

Day 4: Elf on the Shelf Pajama Party

Lily Cute hosted a pajama party with Maisie’s other holiday friends. It was quite a surprise to see her big teddy bear was wearing a new nightgown only it was Maisie’s size. This darling long nightgown (Kohl’s) is adored by both the boy and girl Elves on the Shelf. Unless it’s a school day, she has pretty much spent the entire week wearing it.

Magic Supplies: Elf on the Shelf boys PJs, a girl’s nightgown, night down for girl and her doll, or even Elf PJs!

Day 5: Every Elf Should Play The Floor is Lava

What better way to escape a floor of lava than a zip line across the kitchen? Below Lily Cute were flames placed on the kitchen stools. This was by far Maisie’s favorite morning.

Magic Supplies: Gold stretchy cord and a “Floor is Lava” sign.

Day 6: Elf on the Shelf Sugar Cookie Cereal

Elf of the Shelf’s Sugar Cookie Cereal appeared on our kitchen island this morning. Our elf used an espresso cup and spoon for her star-shaped cereal bowl and Maisie’s bowl was a Christmas green. The pair had a cheery breakfast together. Maisie’s favorite feature is the mini marshmallows.

Magic Supplies: Elf on the Shelf Cereal, a small espresso cup or bowl and spoon and a regular bowl and spoon.
