Mankato Murals

The Mankato Murals have been on my bucket list for a long time. Our plan was to visit the town during the summer of 2021 but my daughter Maddie, my mural hunting buddy, passed away unexpectedly. You will see her face in many of my other mural posts. The way we remember her on the anniversary of her death is going mural hunting. This year we elected for Mankato, Minnesota. Finally!

Mankato has a nice selection of colorful murals splashed throughout the city. Join me on our 2023 tour…

Wings of Whimsy Mural

Location: 523 N. Riverfont Drive, Mankato

On the exterior wall of the darling boutique Whimsy & Weathered public artist Michael Cimino created a set of adult and child-sized wing. As you can imagine my nine-year-old was over the moon happy to have set her size. Don’t forget to include the hashtags if you post on Instagram.

Silo Art – Citymart Mankato

Guido van Helten is the artist behind the stunning 360-degree Mankato Murals on the Ardent Mills silos in downtown Mankato. This 2018 project is a partnership between Twin Rivers Council for the Arts and the City Center Partnership.

Coca-Cola 5-cents Mural and More

Wander around downtown and you will find many other painted murals including the Coca-Cola Classic.

Let Your Light Shine

On the sidewalk, a few shops down from Whimsy & Weathered is a ground mural with “Let Your Light Shine” and yellow sunflowers. I take this as a heavenly wink from my mother whose favorite flower was the sunflower.

We hope you enjoyed the Mankato Mural finds.
